# A GPT for Sheets alternative for classifying and scoring text

GPT for Sheets, by Talarian, adds a family of functions such as `=GPT`, `=GPT_CLASSIFY` and `=GPT_TRANSLATE` to Google Sheets, with plans from $25 a month. Hunch does a narrower job: it answers one question about each row with a probability, one of your labels or a score, for $29 per 5,000 rows with no subscription.

## What GPT for Sheets does

GPT for Work is a set of add-ons for Google Sheets, Excel, Docs, Slides and Word. In Sheets it has functions for most text jobs: `GPT` for any prompt, `GPT_LIST` and `GPT_TABLE` for structured output, `GPT_CLASSIFY` and `GPT_TAG` for labels, `GPT_EXTRACT`, `GPT_TRANSLATE`, `GPT_EDIT`, `GPT_VISION` for images and `GPT_WEB` for web search. Paid plans let you choose the model.

Pricing on its site: Standard at $25 a month and Business at $45 per seat a month, each with $25 of usage included, plus custom Enterprise plans. Each plan covers either GPT for Sheets or GPT for Excel. It starts with free credits and no card.

## Where GPT for Sheets is the better choice

- You need text back: translations, rewrites, summaries, extracted fields, drafts.
- You want to pick the model yourself, search the web from a cell, or read images.
- You also work in Docs, Slides or Word and want one tool across them.

## Where Hunch fits better

- The column you need is a judgment you will sort, filter or count: how likely a lead can buy, which category a ticket belongs to, how urgent an email is.
- You want a number. `=HUNCH` returns a probability from 0 to 1, so you can rank the list and set a threshold.
- Your work comes in bursts. Credits never expire and there is no monthly plan to keep or cancel.

The two columns split what a single score would blur. The agency founder can buy (0.83) but fits poorly (0.36) because there is no support team yet. The Head of Support fits well (2.63) and owns the budget (0.63). The VP asking for a pilot sits at 0.50, which makes it a row to read before deciding.

## Cost for a one-off list

On Hunch, scoring 5,000 rows once costs $29, whatever the length of the text, and the rest of the credits wait for the next list. With GPT for Sheets the cost of the same job depends on the model and the length of the prompt and the text, drawn from the usage included in the monthly plan. For regular, varied text work across Docs and Sheets, the subscription can be the better deal. For occasional classification jobs, per-row credits usually are.
